Ketchup

Hiiiii.

I feel like I haven't done this in...forever. Okay, I'll bombard you with some pics of the last 3+ months of my life and add commentary PRN:

Paul break-dancing with his BIGGEST fan.

Made really good food.

Ate reallllllly good food.

decided to try something off of the devil site
(Pinterest)

Not too bad?

Not bad at all! :)

Spence played a little church ball

LIONel-wannabe was at the gym

whoa.

Priesthood Poser #1.
(the resulting pose after saying, "hey matty, you look cute,
pose for the camera")

Priesthood Poser #2.
(I didn't even have to ask him to be this special. It's an all-of-the-time thing with him)

sorry 'bout it....

...kinda

This has GOT to be a good read!

COOOPERRRRRRRRRR
got fancy! :)

Saw some of him and LIKED it.

Yikes.

Going baaaaaaack!!!

Hilarious.

Mom loves these things!
I'll get her one...someday.

A poorly written/"researched" article was published regarding xrays/brain tumors and patients have been treating us (the dental office) as though we're conspiring against them. After one too many complaining crazies called in "concerned" with the news, Dr. TWN had this to say...
and I loved it :)

Bill works

Spence and Matty get sick

Spence stayed sick and had to go to the ER (a couple times) and a neurologist (scan soon).
Poor kid.

I.HAVE.A.PROBLEM.: I went to target for deodorant and...
Walked out with a few more things...

THEN I DID IT AGAIN!!!

Jess has to work a ton of weekends coming up so a few Fridays ago she texted and asked if we could go to Disneyland on her "last free weekend for 14 weeks." (Mind you, it was 2pm on Friday, we both were working --she, until 8pm-- and she wanted to leave THAT NIGHT, and return Sunday.) So...we went. We got to the hotel in Anaheim around 1am Friday night...
She did some of the driving!

Oh, this is a pic of her beautiful highlights (she dyed her
hair for the first time ever! Technically, just got some
"sunkissed" highlights.) Subtle, pretty, ...I like it.

Her grad-announcement pic.
(almost)

Sitting. People watching. Enjoying my Dole soft serve
(longest line we waited in all day....)

....(40min :\ ...but totally worth it! SORRY JESS)

HOW DO YOU DO?

We had breakfast at Goofy's kitchen
(delicious treat type foods- pb&j pizza, "dirt and worms,"
cheese pizza, chicken nuggets, mac and cheese pizza, cookies
candy, ice cream, etc, etc, etc)

The trip was quick, but a ton of fun. Before leaving, we stopped to get bagels and fountain sodas for the trip home but...about 3 minutes into the drive (yes, three.) I got the WORST craving for a cinnamon roll (which is really strange considering...I don't like them). Jess and I were talking non-stop and listening to music, but I couldn't focus on ANYTHING. I had to have a cinnamon roll and ice cold milk, stat. So. I started watching for the signs before exits that list which fast-food-type places they have off of that exit...but I couldn't find anything that I thought could help me with my situation. Finally, we reached (what I thought was) the last exit before a long stretch of road. I got off of the freeway and....turned left. I didn't see any shopping malls or food stops, but we went left anyway. We started driving through the most beautiful neighborhood (Fontana, CA, if you were wondering). We passed a vineyard and I decided to turn left again. We were slowly creeping through the streets when we came upon the most beautiful houses we had EVER seen. I told Jess that I thought it would be fun to explore the neighborhoods someday...then she MADE ME turn left into the neighborhood! :) We probably looked like idiots...but we stopped in front of every house and made comments about everything we loved (they were GORGEOUS homes). I want to live there someday. So pretty! Anyway. We exited the gorgeous-home neighborhood and...yep, you guessed it, turned left. Finally, we came to a beautifully lined (palm trees, amazing flowers, etc) drive ("Victoria St"), so...I turned left. We ended up in a shopping district (kind of like an EXTREMELY ritzy version of GVRanch's District) and...I SWEAR angels were singing from the heavens as we glanced down at the end of this gorgeously lined drive only to see a little shop called "The Corner Bakery." We parked, went in and enjoyed THE MOST DELICIOUS cinnamon roll/milk I've ever had in my entire life. I'm going to go back as often as I can. It was amazing. After we devoured the treat, we got back onto the freeway and...crawled at 5mph for the next 1.5 hours (I'd like to think my craving was a sign from God --it was Sunday!--that we needed to get off of the freeway in order to avoid being a part of the crash that took place/caused the delay...but Jess just thinks I'm a fat kid that needs a cinnamon roll when she needs a cinnamon roll. Whatever).

Matty can cook!
It's cute.

Spence tried on some skinny jeans and...
is freakin' skinny.

This recession has hit EVERYONE.
Even the Easter Bunny has had to pick
up a second job :\

Bill went to Utah last weekend for a "mission reunion," and
finally taught Grandma Davis how to tie a tie! :)

Paul is in "Tri-season" and I've finally decided...
THAT. I. NEVER. WANT. TO. HEAR/TALK. ABOUT.
TRIATHLONS. EVER. EVER. EVER. EVER. AGAIN.
I'll barf just thinking about it.

MATTY IS 13
and here's kinda how the day went....
we went to cafe rio (cinco de mateo, after all) and neilsen's.
Afterwards, he wanted to go to Best Buy..?
Then...

we sat around and watched a basketball game
...then matt had a game of his own at 5
(that didn't end up happening so...)

We gathered and ate his birthday dinner
(spy dad)

Matt is in the fun stage where he doesn't want to smile normally
for pictures. SUPER fun.

Exactly.

We were all finishing up eating, chatting and what not when I looked
over at Matt's gifts and saw him...just sitting....waiting patiently...

or not.

apparently we take long.

Finalllllly!

I got him a video game but put it in a phone box
and he was SO confused...but finally understood
that there was more to the gift
(resulting smile)

After that, mom went and got his "scooter" (an Abercrombie shirt and Nike elite socks), which to any other kid would be a great "scooter," right?

No. Matt is a brat.

All he really wanted for this birthday was XBOX Live. We told him he wasn't going to get it, he offered to pay for it and everything...but we told him no. When he had received his "scooter," and Spence and Celeste left the room (to finish watching a soccer game) and Matt realized his birthday was actually over and he hadn't received his XBOX Live, he got SO SAD!! (he'll deny it but check out the above expression. That says it all!) Finally, mom felt like the kid was going to break down in tears so she left and got his REAL "scooter," and here's what happened....

is it...?

it is!!?

YESSSS!

Tears of joy.
It was cute
(pathetic? spoiled? lame? sure.
but cute.)

And we got a real smile! :)

The singing facial-expression sequence:
I see that smiiiile...

Iiii seee that smiiiiiiillle.....

IIiiiii seeeeee that smiiiiiiiiiiiiiileee........

:)

there it is!

OPE! Hide it.
Too bad, brat. Caught it!

Make a wish!

Okay. I think that just about covers everything. I've got one more night of clinic (teaching) and then I'M DONE FOR THE SEMESTER!!!  :D :D :D (until summer semester!) I leave for my cruise in...exactly 20 days and then Hawaii a month after that!!! I LOVE SUMMER!!!

xoxo.

"A" Holes.

I've done some research people, and I've got answers...

(I PROMISE you won't regret it.
Best part? the coffee mug.)

Goodbye, my beloved "extra hour." I've thoroughly enjoyed your stay. Though I'll soon be basking with delight in the long and lovely sun-filled days of summer, I'll (not so secretly) yearn for your swift return...

A few things. Oh, and a protest.

First, a few work-related things (if this does not pertain to you/you are not interested, scroll until you see Willy Wonka).

Something I get asked about quite frequently (by people I work with, went to school with or otherwise know within the field of dentistry) are questions regarding patient premedication. I thought this clever (and most up to date) little sheet was a good idea to post in my operatories:
(copy and hang in yours/share! I think it is handy.)

Okay, this next bit is quite funny. Do you remember the health histories that we had to take in Hygiene school? How crazy and detailed they were? Well I had a (total type A) New Patient a few weeks ago that brought in a copy of THE MOST DETAILED health history (for us to keep on file). I told him I worked at the school and wanted to share with some of the students how great his health history was, so he okay-ed me to copy it and take it there...but mostly I want to share it with the WORLD!
(do not worry, this is HIPPA compliant)

Crazy, right?

I could not decide if I loved the old guy, or if he was completely off his rocker. Anyway, thought some of you might enjoy that.

Something I do not enjoy:
Working with a swollen/bruised left hand.
OUCH.

I also do NOT enjoy anything about Charlie and the Chocolate Factory...except for the fact that JD played Wonka in the newer version and...

This.
Cracks me up.

I am pretty infamous for boldly taking pictures of crazies out and about (I am not shy about this. I figure if they did not want their picture taken, they would not parade about in such a state). Well, I have been fortunate enough to have had a few friends/family members join in on the action and share some of the beauties they have seen and (drum roll)...my newest contributor....
My DAD!

I do not know where he was, but he took a picture (with his cell phone! SO fancy.) and texted this be-gagued fellow. I was impressed.

My dad is sooo generation y2k...
(though...all of his text pictures come in that culinary-esque frame, an auto-setting I am sure he could remove but...does not know how to.) :P

People.com featured this pic:
Were Johnny Depp and myself in the picture (and the other two women gone), I could die very, very happily.

So, it is no secret that my parents have THE MOST COMFORTABLE and GIANT green couch in the TV room. We can all fit on there, comfortably, and it is the most dangerous thing to get sucked in to (once you are down, you are down). Well...I found it odd that one Sunday evening my brothers decided that this was the most comfortable way to enjoy a basketball game on the GIANT green couch:
I do not even think it was a close game, so you can not blame anxiety or anticipation for the way that they are arranged here.... ? Weirdos.

What post is complete without him?

He looks like he had been eating...but he had not been (as far as I had seen/could tell). He perched atop his food like a mama bird over her eggs, and sat like this for well over two hours (I kept passing him and he had not moved over this time period. No clue how long he had been like that, nor how long he stayed like that). He is such a strange ranger...

MINI COOPER:
thinks he is a real human.
How cute is he? His little paw on my hand, sitting on his bottom like a person.
Cutest thing ever.

Jess sent me this in a text and I found it pretty hilarious:
Just imagining an individual with every single listed
attribute is what I am most amused by.

Oh, Hogwarts texted Jess:
I hope my acceptance text comes soon!

I like to share a good thing whenever possible, and this...
is DEFINITELY a good thing!

Favorite passages thus far:
1. "What else should I know? (1) There is no sunrise so beautiful that it is worth waking me up to see it. (2) I would like to be friends with Beyonce Knowles."
2. "Presenting a homemade knitted object to my parents was actually like handing them a detailed backlog of my idleness." and
3. "When we graduated high school, she went to the Cooper Union in Manhattan to pursue her love of set design, and I went to Dartmouth to pursue my love of white people and North Face parkas."

Finally, I am going to take a quick minute to rant (because I can):

Those of you who noticed before now, cheers, those who have not, I will point out for you something that happens to be missing from this particular blog:

CONTRACTIONS.

Why, you might ask? Because. I am SO ENTIRELY SICK of the abbreviated speech epidemic! How do we cut this bullsh*t?! I initially thought people were joking....? No?

I heard a song by Nicki Minaj (ft. Kanye west) and thought that there might be the tiniest chance that people could be paying homage/mocking the song (both of which I happen to be good with):

(see minute 3:00-3:26)
Lyrics:
I’m blazin’ I’m flagrant, Im crazy I’m saying
too much for the World so they Abbreviate him
his past is a phase, his stats is amaze
her dress is just perf uhh
Prada colored babes
it obvi’ we the ishh and I’m rolling with my bricks
so real you so trill. baby everything legit
how you feel, they say we crazed cause our styles so diff’
they'll be jel when we in the mag looking magnif’

But now...well into a year of this ridiculousness...I find that it is just getting WORSE!

I found a blog that has a list of some of my LEAST favorite "abbreviations" you might enjoy: http://www.allnewyear.com/?p=76

I really do wish I were influential enough to start a movement, protesting this stupid dialect. But alas, ...I am not, and I can not. I can, however, voice my disgust for the practice here on my blog and pray that the trend discontinues soon.

~Hasta.

ps. I'm going to keep using contractions, omitting them from this blog was just me being dramatic. Crazy, I know.
pps. I'm not perfect and have probably used a ridiculous abbreviation at some point or another in my life, but I PROMISE, I'll be better.

Sayonara suckaaaah!

To start, A moment of silence in thanks for the end of, quite possibly...

The. LONGEST. February. EVER*!!!!!
...........................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................

Okay.

I'm not going to recap the month, specifically, but allow me ask a few questions/raise a few points (which may or may not allude to some of the things that may or may not have happened during the course of this month):

-Why is it the movies typically depict the female sex as the weepy, mopey, dramatic sex? So... so wrong.
-Valentine's Day. Thoughts? Hate it? Love it? Like it? Overrated? What? Personally, I think the holiday is whatever. It's cute to have a day devoted to the one you love...I guess. I think people sound bitter when they go overboard with the "singles awareness" b.s., but...haters gon' hate. Whatev.
-Boys are gay sometimes.
-Rain is gay all times. Especially when it comes within 24hrs of me having my g.d. car detailed.
-On a related note, meteorologists can go straight to hell. Let's round up all the weatherman, psychologists and anyone by the name of George Bush and shove them into Texas and then annex the entire thing to Mexico...
-Deep tissue massages are awesome. Feeling like you have the flu/have been in a horrific car accident shortly afterwards/the days following...isn't awesome.
-Medicine is gay.
-People dying is gay.
-My new spin-shoes are gay (more on this later).

To lighten the mood a bit...here are some things that kept me sane throughout this godawful month:
Sheldon. my soul mate.

(click the pic)
1. The fact that my boss sings this (yeah. to patients) EVERY TIME he is doing an extraction.
2. And the fact that I was mid-serious conversation (about who knows what) with Seriza while driving down the street one day and we passed a pedestrian who (I regrettably failed to notice sooner or there would be a pic here) was ROCKING THE HELL out of some intensely skin-tight fluorescent cheetah-print pants...and Seriza interrupts me, in rapid crescendo, with the following word/phrase (said so fast it initially registered as a single word in my head):
"thisishowIroLLANIMALPRINTPANTSOUTCONTROL!!!!"

No, but seriously.

There was a point in time, believe it or not, where Celeste, Clayt and I fought. Hardcore. I vaguely remember getting into fist fights with Clayt and actually, honestly wanting to kill him. And I've kicked Celeste so hard (not...so long ago, to be honest) that one of us ended up flying off of a bed...Anyway. That pic cracked me up.

Spin:
I started taking a spin class 2-3nights a week about a month and a half ago. I had tried it at 24hr but never really felt challenged by it. Well, for whatever reason, these guys kick my trash...and I love it (oh, and the instructors are VERY good looking...which always helps). So much. Well, a couple of weeks ago, I was looking around the class and noticed that the majority of the people in there had special spin-shoes, so I started thinking about and then looking for places that sold indoor cycling shoes (no I'm not going to start wearing a live-strong bracelet EVER, don't worry, just trying to get tight and right for summer). Well, last Thursday my friend/coworker/lady that introduced me to the multigen-spin classes met up with me and we found some spin shoes! I forgot to bring them to class on Monday, but tonight I tried them out. And...

It was such a February moment.
(photo courtesy of Jess. Beeeeeeyotch sat on her bike and laughed at me the whole time... and sure, I would have done the EXACT same thing were it her this was happening to...but... ugh. grr)

Eff. My. Life. I got to class 10min early thinking that was PLENTY of time to figure my sh*t out/how to "clip in" to the bike. NOPE. Not this girl. Ugh. It was ugly. At one point there were at least 4 people around the bike and another 10 behind us on their bikes voicing their thoughts/opinions. Humiliating. And. The kicker: the ONLY bike I was able to get my cleats to "clip into" happened to be the bike in the front row. Dead center. RIGHT in front of McSexy-Cyclist (aka Paul, the instructor). FML. FML. FML. FML. FML. Whatever. I got my shoes to click into the stupid pedals and did EVERYTHING IN MY POWER to keep the g.d.things in place. I'm still on the fence as to whether or not I'm keeping them...maybe it was just a faggy-february-finale send off on this wonderful 29th day of the month...or maybe I'm special-ed and will never catch on to the dumb things and should just go back to my tennis shoes...hmmm?

~HERE'S TO FREAKIN' MARCH!!!!! :)

A parting video, in celebration of my February survival...

*okay, maybe not ever, but at least in the last 4yrs...
