This is Halloween.

I hate halloween (no offense jen, remember?). I really really really do. I don't like candy. I don't like pumpkin flavored food. I don't like orange. I don't like black and orange. I don't like scary things. I don't like gross/morbid/"spooky" things. I don't think halloween decorations are cute. I don't like dressing up. I HATE the smell of halloween stores. I don't like what it symbolizes. I HATE that it is on the eve of this: :| (I could do this all night...)

But, I deal. Every year. This year was like most others. Jess and i carved pumpkins, I made some festive cupcakes, I survived the work day and ...laid low during the evening.

I did get a kick out of some of the celeb costumes (particularly the today show, the talk, kelly ripa and Ellen), but i still just...don't get it. I don't understand the fascination people have with dressing as something/someone else. Is it mostly out of obligation? or do most people enjoy it? Isn't it expensive? Uncomfortable? ...a little ridiculous?

?

Anyway, here is how my halloween was celebrated:

Jess' Jack

My Jack

On our way to visit the FIRST Christmas aisle up in the target by our house, we saw these and decided to be festive...

this gem was at one of Spence's games and I thought...no place like here to share.

Cupcakes from Hell:

Okay, a lady at work brought some really cool treats and i was inspired to try something new. I found a recipe for some cupcakes on a friend of a sister-in-law's (sly, no?) blog and, since my fam was already on a bit of an oreo-kick, I thought I'd run with it...

Step 1: place an oreo in each liner and fill them 3/4 full with whatever cake batter you like

Step 2: Bake

Step 3: Cool

4. Make the marshmallow-gooey filling.

5. Cut a cavity for the filling to go in

6. Fill them

7. Make the frosting, frost and decorate! :)

8. Revel

9. Share/enjoy!

~HAPPY FREAKIN' NOVEMBER!!! :)
him

him

him.

Crazy, right?

:)

scrap'n crap.

Whilst Clayt was on a mission, Jess and I thought it would be a brilliant idea to gather all of the emails and pics he'd sent and scrapbook-ishly put them all in chronological order.

We were young.
Naive.
Dumb.

...soooo dumb.

Never, ever ever ever, EVER, did we consider a few logistics of the situation (ie. how much time this would take, the fact that we had four potential brother-missionaries to do this for, etc). We, naturally, just dove right in (i love myself and i hate myself).

Clayt's book seemed fairly easy. He didn't send too many pics, but his emails were long and pretty detailed, so his book wasn't too hard to assemble.

Bill's, however, has been a beast. The kid has sent one bazillion (look it up) pics, many of which do not have a date, and we (jess and I), are wicked procrastinators. Therefore, a few weeks ago, we found ourselves...up a creek.
case in point.

We had collected quite a bit of the crap (if anyone scrapbooks, I mean no offense, ...but seriously, admit it. It's all crap. expensive, unnecessary, wasteful, ridiculous, c.r.a.p.) over the course of (nearly) two years, so we devoted one entire friday to the dang thing, and knocked out quite a bit of it...

we even got the kid to help
(willingly!)

(kinda precious)

barf.

cute.

this. is love

anyway. yeah, we are done scrapbooking all of the pics (except for what he's got out there...and :( what he's yet to take), but we still have to scrapbook the emails (shouldn't be too bad. he's...brief.). if ANYONE wants to participate (/do it for me), let me know! I will watch your kid, clean your house, bake whatever, make whatever, just...whatever. But please, don't make me do this anymore!!!!!!!

~cheers

"...it was the age of wisdom, it was the age of foolishness, it was the epoch of belief, it was the epoch of incredulity, it was the season of Light, it was the season of Darkness, it was the spring of hope, it was the winter of despair, we had everything before us, we had nothing before us, we were all going direct to heaven, we were all going direct the other way - in short, the period was so far like the present period, that some of its noisiest authorities insisted on its being received, for good or for evil, in the superlative degree of comparison only."

time for a big fat juicy...

Post.
Happy Fall folks!

I HATE that it's going to start cooling down but some of my favorite things about this time of year happen to involve...

everything in this pic
(literally everything in this pic causes extreme nostalgia within me
...which is weird, all things considered)

the good old basket mouse

and this ridiculous witch hanging from the light by the front door
...and that handmade thing on the wall back there, amongst other things.

Fridge Scrabble:
decorations for halloween and christmas include these little fridge magnets that spell out a cute holiday greeting. Nobody loves them more than my dad. And by love, I mean- totally abuses, misuses and misconstrues the intended message/purpose of the letters into cryptic, nonsensical messages for the rest of the family (or whomever views the message first and puts the letters back in they're intended spots...aka, me)...

the appropriate/intended message
(minus one "p"..a recent casualty..?)

:|

whaaa?

freakin' weird.
anywho. you get the point.

I guess I'm glad-ish fall is here...make sense?

We've had some crazy cold/rainy weather and awesome sunsets around vegas as of late (they're usually really cool), here are a couple I caught recently...

(Soccer is much more tolerable when it's gorgeous outside...by the way.)

This was taken with the camera on my phone for no other reason than to prove a point (that the sun was shining DIRECTLY in my eyes and that matt should close the blinds so I wouldn't go blind...which he didn't do. ..because he hates me.) and it turned out kinda cool..

I found some weird site that had m.a.s.h. (if you don't know what that is, you're old....or reallllly young) on it, and I decided spence was going to play with me. SO. here are the results of his game:
yeah. when I don't know how to spell something I use phonetics.
go big or go home, right?

Probably the best high-five I've ever received:

New edition:
Here's Ninja.
aka baby baby turtle,
aka Parkour! turtle (keep reading),
aka...the newest addition to the Tuttle household.

Stats:
-born: sometime late summer
-height: uh..maybe an inch? inch and a half?
-width: same as height
-length: shell is about 2 inches long

Story: He's the friggen cutest little guy! My friend found him crossing Bonanza (#soldier) and decided to pick him up on the way back down the street. He came home with me and spent the night in my room in a cardboard box. The next morning, Jess peaked her head in my room to catch a glimpse of him...but he had escaped the GIANT box! (it wasn't tipped over, there wasn't a hole chewed out of it, nothin'! Absolutely NO explanation as to how he got out!) She ran screaming (because he was going to attack her since he wasn't in the box..?), and I promptly got out of bed and frantically started searching for him. Luckily, he was in the first place I checked (stuck to a bug trap by my window) and mom handled the rest. We got him set up in his new 'digs and he's been pretty happy here (i think/hope!)!

adorable for a reptile, no?

here's Baby turtle

and here's babybaby turtle
(good comparison pic. baby turtle was the same size
as babybaby turtle when we first got him 11+yrs ago! :)

So, since we've had this turtle, EVERYTIME i check to see how he's doing, he's "extreme caging." this can best be described as follows: the dang turtle has turned his very bland, safe, ordinary turtle cage into an X-games park for turtles. He climbs on his crap and backflips off of whatever he can (not kidding). AND, he enjoys falling asleep mid-stunt. Watching him always reminds me of the Parkour! skit that was on The Office a few seasons back:

yeah. he's sleeping. (not stuck, I'll tap on the glass if ever I'm worried, and he'll easily get himself back on all fours....freakin' psycho)

how the...?

Onward.

On occasion, I get texted some pretty funny crap throughout the workday which TOTALLY helps the day pass much more pleasantly. Here are a couple of my most recent favs:

(Columbus Day)

SO. The other day, I totally took one for the team and went shopping (/looking for one specific item, of the luggage-nature) at one of my LEAST favorite places on earth (not walmart, the other one).

SWARE. If ever I HAVE to dress up for halloween....that place is a goldmine. I definitely didn't find what I was looking for, but I did find....

him.
whom I love.
....ridiculous

I honestly don't think anyone could love google more than myself. In addition to checking my daily horoscope on yahoo, i also check the google homepage religiously, looking for some of the amazing things they come up with ie...

also...

I also heard this guy on Ellen the other day and was sooooo impressed. I've literally listened to him 50+ times. Check it out and lemme know...

***Hygiene dork moment***
(skip if you are bored by cleanliness/dental hygiene)

So i've been inundated with info from the lovely ladies at Compliance Alliance LLC, the CDC, Infection Control Inc and the newest ICG report. One of the MOST disturbing things I learned was about the phenomenon of BACKFLOW (and the slowspeed suction):

"Patients should not close their lips entirely around the suction because it creates a reverse vacuum affect, aka backflow, emptying contents within the vacuum line back into their mouth while their lips are closed, only to be re-evacuated as the lips open and allow the vacuum to suction and flow properly."

WHAAAAAAAAAT!!!???

I dunno about you but...do you see what you suction??? and THAT goes back into their mouths????!!!!

I. Will. PUKE.

ok. so now that I've been armed with this (incredibly disturbing) bit of information, I've been asking every patient to kindly NOT close down on the suction....but patients don't like this. It's more effective to close down. So...how do you remedy this?

TAH-DAAAAAH!!!

I went to work at my Anthem office last friday and they had these little disposable blue-filter-things that you attach to the slowspeed, and then stick the saliva ejector into. AWESOME!!! no?!!

(it has a little film/filter thing)

Text me if you want more info on the what/where of ordering these things (no I didn't invent them, no I don't have stock in the company...I'm just trying to spread a good word when I get one)

Also. While watching my favorite show ever the other night, I received the following pic/text:

"...someone was not shown the proper way to floss...."
(thanks lele. happy belated 1yr!)

I still love him.
so much.

While still on the topic of dental hygiene, here are my current fav things:
(seriously. use/recommend them all
(well..obviously not ALL of the listerine flavors. pick one. ...)
and you'll be golden)
