This is Halloween.

I hate halloween (no offense jen, remember?). I really really really do. I don't like candy. I don't like pumpkin flavored food. I don't like orange. I don't like black and orange. I don't like scary things. I don't like gross/morbid/"spooky" things. I don't think halloween decorations are cute. I don't like dressing up. I HATE the smell of halloween stores. I don't like what it symbolizes. I HATE that it is on the eve of this: :| (I could do this all night...)

But, I deal. Every year. This year was like most others. Jess and i carved pumpkins, I made some festive cupcakes, I survived the work day and ...laid low during the evening.

I did get a kick out of some of the celeb costumes (particularly the today show, the talk, kelly ripa and Ellen), but i still just...don't get it. I don't understand the fascination people have with dressing as something/someone else. Is it mostly out of obligation? or do most people enjoy it? Isn't it expensive? Uncomfortable? ...a little ridiculous?

?

Anyway, here is how my halloween was celebrated:

Jess' Jack

My Jack

On our way to visit the FIRST Christmas aisle up in the target by our house, we saw these and decided to be festive...

this gem was at one of Spence's games and I thought...no place like here to share.

Cupcakes from Hell:

Okay, a lady at work brought some really cool treats and i was inspired to try something new. I found a recipe for some cupcakes on a friend of a sister-in-law's (sly, no?) blog and, since my fam was already on a bit of an oreo-kick, I thought I'd run with it...

Step 1: place an oreo in each liner and fill them 3/4 full with whatever cake batter you like

Step 2: Bake

Step 3: Cool

4. Make the marshmallow-gooey filling.

5. Cut a cavity for the filling to go in

6. Fill them

7. Make the frosting, frost and decorate! :)

8. Revel

9. Share/enjoy!

~HAPPY FREAKIN' NOVEMBER!!! :)
