love that movie...
***WARNING: THIS IS A SAPPY POST***
(thought I'd give you a heads-up...)
This past week I have had some really random situations call to my attention how VERY blessed I am. I don't want to sound corny, but... yeah. I am very blessed.
First, I stumbled upon a movie (suggested to me by the Blockbuster employee that does not know me from Adam, but promised me I would like this movie):
I'm not sure why I don't recall ever hearing anything about this flick while it was in theaters, but after the Blockbuster lady mentioned it to me, I walked over to the "New Release" wall and simply looked at the cover.
This was my exact thought process: "Meh. I love Denzel... wow, I haven't seen "Remember the Titans" forever! ...he is rather attractive, isn't he?...k. I'm getting it."
So now you know exactly how much thought I put into renting this movie. I didn't read the back, I didn't ask any further questions, I just got it.
Now, I won't give any real "movie-spoilers" out here, so don't worry. But please, go rent this movie. I, quite literally, had to FORCE myself (yep, i sat there with my fingers prying my eyelids open) to keep watching for...honestly? ...it had to have been the first hour. BUT, after that first hour, you're in. Done. Game over. It was amazing.
I am sooo very grateful for the modern conveniences I all-too often take for granted...
Twice a day showers.
A glass of water whenever I want it.
The luxury of companionship.
The love of/from/for my friends and family.
Etc, ect, etc.
Go. Now. Watch it.

Next:
OF COURSE I saw it on opening day!
Loved every single second of this movie. It probably just made my top 5...maybe even top 3 list of all time favorite Disney movies! But this movie reminded me to ...as dumb as it may sound, appreciate some of the "objects" in my life a bit more. I've never been able to really form attachments to "things," ...people, yes... things, not so much. But, things (toys, blankets, pictures, jewelry, etc) can hold a lot of memories, and can offer quite a bit of comfort whenever it is needed... just some food for thought (for me, probably more than anyone else...)
and last:
This is the blog of an old friend from high school. I don't know that she knows I "blog-stalk" her, but I read her most recent post and SOBBED. Wow!
I am SO grateful for this lady.
I know it's almost father's day, and that my gears should be...shifted a bit (so to speak), but my mom is the best. I don't care what anyone says. She is the most selfless, hard working, loving, thoughtful, patient and wise person I have ever met. Sure, she's a bit nutty (as I'm sitting here writing this post at 1am on a Saturday morning, she is out at her "2nd job" cleaning the office...), but she means well. She's so harmless... and loves her kids sooo much. Reading my friend's post brought back memories (both distant and recent) of times and conversations I have had with my mom. I can't imagine not having her in my life. I'm 24 now and still go to her with a lot of life-questions and concerns... not because I need her to help me make my decisions, but more-so because I know she has been through a lot. She's made mistakes and has lived a really hard life (and I DARE anyone to try and convince me otherwise...after all, she's the mother of seven freakin' kids, and has put up with my dad for 27+ years!). I have a lot to learn from her, and pray that she'll be around for many Many MANY more years to come.
