Going to Europe... no big deal :)

I went and got my passport back in March (yep. I'm 24 and have never owned a passport. Apparently that's odd...) because I had decided I wanted to go somewhere fun this year. Since returning from the innermost ring of Hell last may, I've been able to do a lot of fun things around here in Vegas. I deemed 2009 my "Year of Shows." Sure, I'd seen a bunch of shows prior to 2009, but I got to see all the shows down on the strip that I'd wanted to see since before Hygiene school. I don't know if I can remember them all...but I saw:

(for the 8th time)

Amazing.

Also amazing.

Ridiculously STUPID

and probably my favorite:

Ventian Phantom

There are still a few shows left like to see (ie. Garth Brooks, Celine Dion--when she comes back) but I've seen the majority of the "good ones." :)

So, since 2009 was my "year of shows," I decided 2010 would be my "year of travel," and...so far so good... except, I've just been all over California, nothing too extravagant/extraordinary.

My mom was asking me if there was a cruise or some sort of tour I could go on over the summer. I had no clue...so I decided to start doing some research. Within a few minutes of my "research," I came to the travel site: Contiki.com. I looked at a few of their travel packages, showed my mom, and thought a little about it, but figured there was no way I'd ever be able to go ("I can't miss that much work," "That's kind of a lot of money, and I'm trying to save for a house," I don't know anyone who would be able to go with me, and I'd never go alone," etc, etc, etc).

I brought the travel idea up with one of my good friends Seriza back in April, and she simply said, "When do we go?" :D BEST ANSWER EVER! I really NEVER thought I'd be able to do anything like this...but, Tah-dahhh!

We've been looking at our schedules, flights and a few of the different tours, and decided that the August 5th "European Discovery" departure was our best option.

Here is a link that will show you our trip's itinerary:

We finalized everything last week and are now just thinking about all of the many elements of travel... what to pack, weather, food, flight activities...etc.

Any tips? Recommendations? Thoughts?

...let me know!

  1. I've been to about 3/4 of those places and they are fabulous. You may find that seeing all those places so quickly won't really give you a feel of what each place is about. I would figure out what exactly you would like to see in each city or what you'd like to get out of each place. There is SO MUCH TO SEE in each of those places you'd have to figure out what is most important to you.... there is so much art, history, and culture you'd kinda have to decide where to go. If you don't speak any french/german, I'd look into figuring out the metro systems so you don't waste time and frustration on finding your way around. Eat every scrap of food you can in Paris. Go into a bakery and buy everything. I think that's my best advice so far.
