One beautiful Cinco De Mayo, LeAnna and I had the morning off, so...we got up at the crack of dawn and headed over to Red Rock! This was my first experience visiting the area, and was quite impressed!!
These little marquees were staggered right outside the "new and improved" visitor's center.
Kinda cool, eh?
This not-so-little (like 10ft) lizard-statue was just hangin' out in the middle of the center.. yuck.
I'm betting he had NO IDEA I was taking this of him... :P
Serves him right! For lookin' all molester-like....
I maintain that, were all wildlife as ...stagnant as turtles, I could have a serious career with National Geographic mag.
So, the REAL reason we went out to Red Rock: check out sites for LeAnna's wedding!!! And...this is the spot! Sooo pretty! Reminds me of South Carolina (not that I've ever been there...but this hopeless romantic is very VERY familiar with Nicholas Spark's books/movies, and therefore I feel experienced and educated enough to pigeonhole this snapshot into a "Carolina's-esque" category...)
Thought I'd share this "beaut" with all of you (which I think may include Clayt...possibly Jen, and Celeste?). This has GOT to be THE. UGLIEST. ROCK. in the world. Does it have measles? a fever? gross! Get it some prescription cream... blah. Gave me the heebie-geebies.. (spelled those two phonetically, figure it out...)
LeAnna informed me that they have star gazing groups that go up to Red Rock on certain evenings, and proceeded to demonstrate the use of one of the courtesy-scopes the park supplies...bahaha
All in all, a GREAT start to what ended up being an AMAZING day (we headed into work, had a staff meeting, then I escaped for the afternoon and hit up the pool and celebrated the 11th Cinco De Matteo :)
Baby Turtle is cuter than the other one. :\ WAAAAAAAAAY cuter, and funny! Like, he could be (Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle) Michaelangelo in the remake.
